A LOCAL hero who spent his spare time dressed up as Batman visiting sick kids was tragically killed overnight in a car accident.

Lenny B. Robinson, a 51 year old millionaire from Maryland in the USA became
known across the world after his story became viral when he was pulled over by police in a Lamborghini and Batman suit.

For years, Robinson has dressed up in his suit to deliver happiness and a brief distraction to children who often had none. Originally he drove a black Lamborghini Gallardo, but eventually bought a replica of the George Barris Batmobile from the 1960s Batman TV show. Tragically, that was the car he was with when he was killed.

The accident occurred on an unlit stretch of highway where Robinson pulled over due to engine trouble. He’d just left a petrol station and met a family who he showed the car to, then gave superhero toys to the children. The family parked behind him and turned their hazard lights on.

While his car was stopped in an emergency lane, police said his car was still “partially in the fast lane” when he got out to check the engine. As he was checking the engine of the Batmobile, a Toyota Camry slammed into the car, propelling it into his body. He died at the scene.

Robinson’s brother told the Washington Post that he spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on his Batmobile, costumes and toys he used to make kids happy, with all of them always autographed “Batman.”

It was said that he spent around 45 minutes putting on the black eye makeup and putting his costume on. Sometimes when he would spend all day visiting children, he would get so hot in his suit that he would lose up to 3kg in water weight.

“He touched a lot of lives and made a lot of kids smile. That’s all he wanted to do.”
