HOLLYWOOD film studios have been actively rebooting movie franchises for years now, so it makes sense video game developers would soon do the same.

Both Xbox and PlayStation have made announcements at E3 regarding two hugely popular game titles that will be re-released on the respective consoles.

For Xbox, Gears of War Ultimate Edition will see the
original squad-based cover shooter remade in its entirety for gamers to enjoy.

Microsoft’s Vancouver studio the Coalition took charge in painstakingly rebuilding the game from the ground up in 1080p.

“Every character, every creature in the game, every piece of armour has been completely rebuilt from scratch,” a spokesman said.

“What we tried to do is pay honour to what was there and to the original vision the original artist had, yet take it to a new place.”

The game follows the exact story of the original and includes five campaign chapters never released on Xbox.

Wanting to ensure the gaming experience mimicked the original, the team also updated the highly popular online multiplayer format of the game.

Players will be able to play private games on dedicated servers and they will be able customise the games in ways not available on the original.
For PlayStation, the release that has the gaming world exited is Final Fantasy VII.

Not many details about the release date or storyline have been given about the game, although a number of the game’s original developers are returning for the project.
These include producer Yoshinori Kitase and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.

Coinciding with the announced, Sony released a trailer released for the game at E3 and as expected the internet went crazy.
