APPLE’S September iPhone event might end up being much bigger than most people first thought.
The iPhone 6s event which is expected to take place on September 9
was believed to be held at Apple’s 2012 iPhone launch venue, the San
Francisco Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, capable of seating 755
people.
However, according to local San Francisco blog Hoodline,
the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, a 7,000 capacity space has been
booked by an
unnamed person for September 4th through to September 13th
for a private “trade event”. The filing says the event will only run
until September 10, however.
While there’s of course no guarantee
that it is in fact Apple that has booked the venue in that time, the
dates match perfectly, as does the secret nature of the booking’s
details. There are also no announced events that are planned to be
taking place during those dates in the area.
Locals are reporting that security guards have been patrolling the
building to ensure no one sees what’s happening inside, while power
generators are outside taking up parking spots.
The filing for the booking also says that four of the building’s windows will be removed to make way for giant fibreglass logos.
The
iPhone 6s is almost certain to be announced, but rumours have also come
up recently suggesting Apple could be launching a new Apple TV or even
an iPad Pro at the event.
On top of the location, new leaks have come out overnight that shows the next iPhone will get a camera upgrade from an 8-megapixel to a 12-megapixel snapper.
