USUALLY it’s the woman who gets to tell her partner that she’s
pregnant, but this time one father-to-be got to be the one to make the
exciting announcement to his wife.
Sam Rader, 29, decided to surprise his wife Nia, 26, with the good
news after he secretly did a pregnancy test using urine from an
unflushed toilet. The couple, who have two young children and share their lives on their YouTube channel, became an internet sensation
last year after a video of them miming to “Love is an open door” from the hit Disney film Frozen went viral.
“All night long, Nia goes pee throughout the night. She has the bladder the size of a golf ball,” he says on the video. “And she doesn’t flush the toilet at night because she’s afraid she’ll wake up the baby.”
Sam returned home from working the night shift, and managed to beat Nia to the bathroom, where he was able to collect a sample for the pregnancy test. “This time around, I’m gonna do the announcement,” he says. “I hope so bad she’s pregnant.” Sure enough, the test is positive.
He heads to the kitchen where Nia is making their children breakfast, and starts dropping hints. When she goes to the cupboard, he asks if she’s getting wine. “Oh, that’s right, you can’t have wine,” he says.
Confused, Nia tells him that she hasn’t even taken a test yet.
Even when he shows her the positive test, she thinks it’s a joke. “You brought a positive one home? You’re such a dork!” she laughs.
Finally, she puts it all together and realises what he’s done and is so excited to hear the news.
